When Gucci’s Cruise 2018 email hit my inbox I tried to resist the click. On a day where I needed to get a wedding finished, I couldn’t be sidetracked by heading down the rabbit hole that is a new Gucci campaign. #saybyebyetoproductivity and so I didn’t click and instead pulled a “mark unread” so that I could enjoy it later. But then… another email hit my business account… eff.

Like Alice in Wonderland I was gone. I know this is old news as far as the fashion world is concerned –this campaign debuted last year of course, but this is MY blog and if I want to obsess over something, damnit, I will. The Cruise 2018 campaign is shot by British rock star photographer Mick Rock –he’s shot some of the most iconic portraits in the rock world, from Ziggy Stardust to Iggy Pop & Deborah Harry to Snoop Dog. Rather than a journey to the world of R&R debauchery we’re invited to peek into the fantastic imagination of Alessandro Michel via his Roman Rhapsody. Portraits of real people in apartments and parks in Rome, Italy. Real people. Unfiltered and raw. I’m in love. My entire retirement plan revolves around wearing the above leisure suit.
More of this please, Gucci (and the rest of the fashion industry while we’re at it). merci.
